Minutes from the YVMEA Meeting on January 8, 2002

State Convention in Yakima February 15-18
Make sure to alert local media of our kids in All State groups!

Solo and Ensemble is coming!

Send all entries and checks to Ed at East Valley High School by
Friday, January 11. (Post marked by Friday)
Payments must be in by the 18th
All payments are $15
Directors are to list each entry and $15 by each and total at the bottom of the form.
On the back of the form, list members of each ensemble
Tuesday (15th), Ed will mail forms to Don.
No on P.O.'s for S/E
Next year we may be able to register on-line
A parent is running/organizing the scheduling
Time requests? For State - No!
For non-state - possibly
Set up for S/E by CWU MENC college group
$100 has always gone to their group for the work
Should we still do that?

Doug Kilgore will take P.O.'s for MS contest

R. Stansberry suggests that we still mainly deal with checks because
they are easier and more timely to process and school districts tend
to take too much time getting P.O.'s through
Discussion on money for treating those who help with contests
(students, etc.) - $50.00 for misc. expenses?
No decision made

There will be a separate String Festival this year for both HS/MS - Not scheduled yet

Friend of Music and Outstanding Music Educator Awards - Friend of Music - John Oord
Outstanding Music Educator - Bob Agerbroughton (sp?)
They were sent letters and will be receiving their awards at
convention on the Sunday morning concert hour

Process of Electing Officers
Discussion of nomination of group members and process
How is it in our constitution? Did not have Constitution with us.
Move to accept Megan as Pres. Elect.
Amended to have Scott and Megan Goranson be co-pres-elect.

D. Kilgore moved that for future elections, a nomination committee
be formed and that nominations be presented at winter meeting and
then to be voted on at spring meeting.
