Executive board-- Called to order at 5:10 pm. In attendance: Dave Walter, Jim & Charlene Sleater, Gena Nedrow and Michael Brant.

·        Charlene has put together a "How To packet for running a contest.

·        Michael is considering doing another elem. in-service next fall and is looking for ideas and contacts.

·        Streamlining the mailing list. I am in the process of reorganizing the mailing list with proper names and addresses. Hopefully, you will receive one mailing at one school. Let me know if you get more than one, none or want it sent to a different building. Many people did not fill out the information forms last fall or did not give complete information. This makes the process much longer.

OTHER STUFF

·        Dave Carlile: Banners will be ready and sent with John Oord to deliver.

·        HS Band contest judging. Dave Carlile suggested a raw score and a score based on a sliding scale for size. One score would be for a certificate, one for a banner. Other comments were that WMEA/WIAA regions are on their own for contest. WMEA rewrote the judging forms etc. in the 1980s. MS Band contest did away with the sliding scale. It was ultimately decided that a Judging Committee was needed to resolve this issue. The committee will include Doug Kilgore, Gary Baisinger, Rod Harris and Dave Carlile who will get together and look at what other regions are doing and make recommendations in the fall.

·        Rich Rees suggested spending some of our $ on a durable portable digital recording system w/CD and CD duplicator w/ effects and multi channel with two mics. The system is not computer based and would be housed at WVJH and checked out to use for contests and concerts. Recordings could not be sold. Doug Kilgore suggested that it be used for YVMEA functions only. Recommendations and a proposal will be made in the fall. Cost would be approx. $3,500.00.

·        Dates and an YVMEA E-mail list will be on the E-burg band web site at <http://wonders.eburg.wednet.edu/music/index.html>http://wonders.eburg.wednet.edu/music/index.html.

·        It was also suggested that a directory be added to the front of the YVMEA handbook and on the web page. I will put up a list consisting of those people who have completed an YVMEA information form.

·        FALL MEETING: THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 5PM EXEC BOARD, 6PM GENERAL. PLACE: TBA.
